Last week, our "beloved" Prime Minister Pak Lah decided to give a surprise visit to our "beloved" public transport; namely KTM and Putra(Star) LRT. From what we can read, it seems that he is unsatisfied with the public transport service, what with the delay of train, over congested and among others.
Yep. Great. So noble of you. From what I perceived, it appears to me that our PM just doesn't listen to our complaints about public transport FOR YEARS ago. Maybe he thinks that we are exaggerating or he just doesn’t care. Now that he finally "turun padang", he complains that it is bad, it is unsatisfactory it is this and it is that. Well, thank you for letting us know what we ALREADY know. Now, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
He's lucky he didn't choose to take the public bus during the peak hour, when it rain. Else he'll be greeted by the best scent he can find in Malaysia, hehe.
In the time when oil prices had skyrocketed, the Government urged us to use public transportation to go to work. However I don't think the current public transportation system can save us any money. For example, if I work in KL Sentral, I would have to take the bus early morning from my house, costing RM1.00. Reach Pandan Jaya LRT Station (I lived in Pandan Perdana) in 30 minutes time (commute + waiting time), pay RM2.40 per ticket to go to Masjid Jamek (20 minutes commute time) then walk 5 minutes to the Masjid Jamek Putra LRT station. From there, pay RM1.30 to finally reach KL Sentral. Overall I need to pay RM5.70 and use around 1 hour 15 minutes to go to work alone. In the end I would need to spend RM11.40 and 2 hour 30 minutes a day to work.
In a month I would use up to RM228... Well, if compare to a car, depending on the company you worked for, you might not need to pay parking fee or maybe buy a season pass. That if you work in a building or complex. If you work in industrial area parking fee is almost non-existent. If I drive a car to KL Sentral to work, minus the parking fee (let just assume there is no parking fee) the amount of money I use for driving and taking public transport is almost the same. Heck, I would rather get stuck in a traffic jam every morning in my own car than get stuffed in the bus or LRT like sardine in a can.
In conclusion, buy a motorcycle to work...
It's super fuel-efficient and you can just literally park anywhere. If you scared your motorcycle will get summoned for illegal parking or stolen by Mat Rempits, buy a used bikes and those of unfamous brand. Keep out of Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki. It is the prime target for theft.
P/S: Don't argue with me about how unsafe a motorcycle is. If you ride like an idiot, most likely you'll die an idiot.
